Fan Kicked Off Stage by Usher Responds to Critics: ‘I Wasn’t Going Up There for Usher’

Awkward On-Stage Moment During Usher Concert Goes Viral as Fan Responds to Social Media Criticism

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — An unexpected moment during Usher's latest concert has become one of the biggest topics on social media after a fan's interaction with the R&B superstar went viral.

During the July 25 stop of the Usher & Chris Brown R&B Tour in Nashville, Usher invited a female fan on stage as part of his performance of "Can U Handle It?"—a fan-favorite segment known for its flirty, interactive atmosphere. However, the performance took an unexpected turn when the fan appeared uncomfortable and didn't engage in the playful exchange as many audience members expected.

The moment quickly spread across social media, with fans sharing videos and offering mixed reactions about what happened on stage.

The woman, who later identified herself on social media as Gabrielle Cheyenne, addressed the criticism, saying she was excited to be selected from the audience and had been upgraded to VIP seating before the show. She explained that concert organizers do not reveal which artist will invite fans on stage ahead of time.

According to Gabrielle, she had actually hoped to be chosen during Chris Brown's performance rather than Usher's, adding that she was surprised when she realized she would be participating in Usher's segment instead.

Despite the online attention, Gabrielle said she does not regret the experience and insists she was neither embarrassed nor ashamed of how the interaction unfolded. She also shared that she received unwanted comments from concertgoers after leaving the venue and has since spoken out in response to online criticism.

As of now, Usher has not publicly commented on the viral moment.

The Usher & Chris Brown R&B Tour continues this week with additional stops across the United States, bringing two of R&B's biggest performers to fans nationwide.
